It’s been a month since the new 2022 semester started, classes are becoming normal, friends are being made, your routine as a college student is settling. Life doesn’t seem so bad. Of course, you forgot something important you need, a job. For those living on campus with no car to travel to and from, may find it difficult to find a job that is okay with juggling the hectic hours of a student. Luckily for you, there’s a few jobs available around campus for hectic students that understand we only have so many hours available, and here are the ones that are hiring!

Part-time cook in the cafeteria! As seen on the tables in the cafeteria, the upstairs dining hall is looking for a part-time cook for the weekdays. In this position, you would be working around 20 to 25 hours, 4 shifts a week. Shifts are available within the hours of 12 pm-4 pm, 4 pm-8 pm, and 12-8 pm. Of course, you’ll have to have some past working experience in a commercial kitchen, ideal for a student who is frequently coming or going to the NFCI campus. Starting pay would be $15.00/hour.

Become a Tutor for ACE! Anyone who goes to the “Academic Center for Excellence” or ACE at least once will notice friendly faces ready to offer you help at the drop of hat. You too can become a friendly face by tutoring students on your own schedule. Got a couple of two to three-hour breaks in between classes every couple of days? Luckily you can pick up hours as a tutor for a subject you know a lot about.

Subjects needed vary from the basics like liberal arts to different languages like sign language, and even many of the different kinds of sciences; general biology, autonomy, human biology, sociology, psychology, and so many others! Honestly, if you have the experience needed, they might need a tutor in that subject anyway. Subjects change from semester to semester, but they’re mostly picked out from request forms online, and thus begin the hunt for a tutor in that subject.

The ACE center asks for experience behind the subject you’re interested in, you must have a GPA requirement of 3.0 or higher, and a letter grade of B or higher in the chosen course; you also much be a semester in your NCCC life with 12 credits hours. If you took the class at NCCC with the teacher still on campus, you could possibly ask them for a faculty recommendation if you did well enough in the class by simply sending the teacher a faculty recommendation link.
Your schedule is based on your availability and stays the same each week, you can work a minimum of 1 or a maximum of 28 hours a week. ACE tutoring hours are available Monday through Friday, 9 am till 7 pm on Monday through Thursday, and Fridays hours are 9 am till 3 pm or 4 pm. $13 per hour.

Unfortunately, not many other places on campus are hiring, although the NCCC bookstore on the Sanborn campus is said to be hiring in July, August and December. Hopefully, as the semester goes on more places around the campus will be hiring.
