Transferring schools from NCCC to a 4 year college may sound like something way i
the future and that can wait for later but that is not the case. If you are graduating in December or
May, it is never too early to start getting prepared for transferring schools. The first thing you are
going to want to do is make sure you are on track to graduate when you think you are. Just send
your advisor an email, they should get back to you within 24 hours and let you know your
graduation status.
Next you are going to want to apply to the school you want to transfer to. Most schools
will have an “Apply” option right on their websites. If you can not find it, there should be a
search option on almost all of them and type in “Application”. Make sure you select the correct
semester you plan on attending. After filling out the application, all schools will request a
transcript from your current school. [https://www.niagaracc.suny.edu/cts/transfer-services-2/]
This is the link for NCCC’s Transfer Services website. You can look through here and see if
anything sparks your interest. Once on the website you will scroll all the way to the bottom, the
column farthest right, three choices up it says “Order Transcripts”. Here is a direct link.

There is a huge blue button
that says “Order Transcripts” and that will take you to Parchment. You will put in your email
address and then the school you want to transfer information to. I always send mine to the
Admissions Office there so I know it is going to the correct place. Official Transcripts cost
$10.00 to send, when choosing how DO NOT download it for “Myself”, it then becomes
unofficial because changes can be made. It needs to be sent right to the school. They take about 7
days or so, so do not freak out. Also, if NCCC was not the first college you attended or you took
college courses in high school, you will need to send transcripts from those schools as well. The
same process can be followed. Go to the schools webpage, go to the search portion, “Order
transcripts” and it should have a link for you. Now it becomes a waiting game. There are plenty
of people to help you if you are unsure of how to do any part of the application process. By
going to your advisor or to a teacher they can help point you in the right direction to start. Do not
be afraid to ask for help, the teachers and counselors are here to help you succeed.
