Flu Prevention for Flu Season

Written by Emilee Mongold

The flu has been going around lately, and there are clear ways to avoid catching it. Here are some tips to prevent that from happening.

The first thing to do is go to your doctor and get a flu shot, that’s the number one way to prevent contraction and spreading of the flu. Some people don’t believe in flu shots, however, so if you are one of those people, make sure to wash your hands A LOT! No matter what you have done or where you have been there are all kinds of germs everywhere that are contagious. The act of scrubbing will physically remove the germs.

Next, if you are around anyone who is sick avoid coming into contact with them, even just shaking hands. Make sure to keep your hands away from your face.

It is also important to keep a healthy lifestyle. Those who have good nutrition, don’t smoke, and keep their allergies controlled are less likely to get sick. Those who don’t have a healthy lifestyle, their upper respiratory is already inflamed which makes it easier for them to catch the flu.

Finally, make sure you drink lots of water. Water helps our kidneys function properly and flushes out the toxins in our bodies. Moods affects our ability to fight off infections, those who are feeling stressed are more likely to become ill rather than those who are feeling happy and relaxed. Flu prevention is easy, and anyone can do it.
